We often get asked by students where they can go and record their first EP or rehearse with their band so we have put together a list of places where you can record music in Bristol.

T-Bone Tunes

Tony Salter, the ex in-house engineer at the EMI studios in London, set up his studio in Bristol 6 years ago. He has since established a large and very happy client base. As both an engineer and producer he is well versed in most genres, his specialities are Indie, Rock, Hip Hop, Pop, Punk and Country. The studio, Hamilton House (80 Stokes Croft Road, Bristol, BS1 3QY), is a newly built studio in Stokes Croft. He also has the capacity to do mobile recording and band recording too.

Free House Music

Free House Studios is an audio recording studio facility based in Bristol. The facilities in the studio allow artists to use the studio at all stages of production, from writing to mastering. With a dedicated vocal booth/amp room and the ambient live room, they offer great sounding results from performance to print.

Attic Attack Studios

Attic Attack, located at 25 Portland Square, Bristol, BS2 8NN, is a professional recording facility and one of the longest established studios in the Bristol area, running since 1987 and in central Bristol since 1998. They offer a wide range of services including studio recording, location recording, mastering, editing and CD duplication. They cater for all styles of music as well as voice-overs, jingles etc. One of the great things about this studio is that they offer a 15% discount to all students.

The University of Bristol Music Department (For Uni Students)

The Composition and Recording Studios are the hub of a thriving and growing activity in studio composition, ranging from taught undergraduate units to research, and from acousmatic composition to film soundtracks to interactive performance. The Studios are directed by Neal Farwell and managed by Jonathan Scott. The Studios host a regular electroacoustic concert series under the title Sonic Voyages. Special events have included staging the composition strand of the 2007 Royal Musical Association Research Students' Conference, and an international call for electroacoustic video works. Recently featured guests include Jonty Harrison, Adrian Moore, and Kjartan Olafsson. Based at the Victoria Rooms, Queens Road, Bristol, BS8 1SA, well worth making the most of if you are a Bristol university student.

Room4 Studios

Room4 studios is a new studio based in Bristol and is located on 145A Whitehall Rd, Redfield, Bristol BS5 9BJ. They are known for having a great studio. The studio features 3 live rooms, a control room & an instrument room. The rooms have all been acoustically designed & treated by Recording Architecture, the world renowned studio designers. By default the 3 rooms all have a similar sound but we can move the acoustic treatment around to alter their characteristics. The multiple live rooms make the studio great to record bands playing live, by having you all playing together in one room but with the amps in different rooms. The prices are very affordable and this place is definitely worth checking out.
